About Stuart Jones

Stuart Jones has been thatching since 1994 — over 30 years of working on roofs across Wiltshire, Berkshire and beyond. In that time he has taken on everything from emergency ridge repairs on listed farmhouses to full re-thatches of period cottages, always with the same attention to detail that has earned him a reputation as one of the region’s most trusted master thatchers.

Stuart works with all three traditional materials — water reed, long straw and combed wheat reed — and will advise honestly on which is most appropriate for your property, taking into account the existing roof, planning requirements and your budget. He has extensive experience working on listed buildings and in conservation areas, and is well versed in liaising with local planning authorities where consent is required.

Customers consistently describe Stuart as a perfectionist with a practical streak: someone who will tell you exactly what a roof needs and why, without upselling unnecessary work.
